We pride ourselves on delivering outstanding work to every partner we collaborate with. Our tried-and-tested method is structured and robust enough to capture everything needed for an excellent learning experience, yet flexible to suit your team’s unique needs.
Here’s an overview of what you can expect from us, including what we’d need from you to ensure the whole experience is as smooth as possible. This list isn’t exhaustive but should give you a good idea of our process.
While we have activities that occur on most projects, we always aim to fit in with your preferred working style. Whether you follow a scrum or extreme programming approach, or anything in between, our experienced project managers excel at handling projects with multiple stakeholders and varying methodologies.
What you get when you work with us
- Dedicated account manager: works closely with you to deploy your experience and identify any future innovation opportunities with you.
- Project manager: leads on your project, helps with queries, and coordinates the timeline, milestone dates, and communication between our teams.
- Learning and experience designers: work with you to establish the final design based on your learning objectives.
- Software developers: build the interactions and mechanics in the learning experience.
- Artists: create all the scenes and artwork needed for the experience.
- Character modelers and animators: create the characters required for the scenarios in the learning.
- QA tester: thoroughly tests and helps debug all work before we deliver it.
- Weekly progress reports and catch-up calls to keep you updated on how the project is progressing.
- Honest and open communication throughout. If we think a decision may have a negative impact on the project overall, we’ll let you know, explain why, and work to come up with different approaches.
What we’ll need from you
- Key stakeholders involved as early as possible in the project to make sure we’re all on the same page from the beginning and reduce the risk of unexpected changes later in the project.
- Input from your subject matter experts (SMEs) to advise on content, work with us on scripting, and sign-off at various stages of the design, ensuring that we include their valuable knowledge in the learning experience. We often ask for a few days of their time – this means we’ll capture every bit of their valuable insight to include in the learning.
- Consolidated feedback throughout the project to make sure everything remains on the right path and we deliver an experience that you and your teams love.
It can sound like a lot upfront – but by working with you in this way, we can create the ideal bespoke learning experience that will address your objectives meaningfully and deliver impact.
Our typical workflow
We tend to cover these key stages in our projects but the exact workflow may flex depending on your needs and timelines.
- Discovery
We work with your Learning team, SMEs and IT team to refine the scope, requirements and gather source information. We’ll discuss your processes, measurement KPIs, deployment objectives for the rollout, and agree general design principles for all the content.
- Design
Before any development work can begin, we undertake a detailed design phase to fully define and document the training experience and scenarios that we’ll build. The resulting Design Document contains, as an example, learning objectives, user journey, interaction methods, mechanics, navigation, scripts, learner assessments, 3D assets needed, and so on.
- Development
An ongoing stage, this covers creation of all the content and the software development to deliver the experience. We will usually build a thin-vertical slice that allows us to show you core functionality and content, before we iterate and add the details agreed during the design phase. Generally we’ll provide a Work in Progress preview, followed by an Alpha build for formal review, then Release Candidate builds for final review and sign off.
- Testing
We thoroughly QA test everything we build, as an ongoing process in the development of the learning and as a final stage. This can involve early functional testing to ensure what we want to create together will work on your systems, as well as tests throughout the development process.
- Deployment
Depending on the kind of experience we build, deployment will look a little different. For example, if it’s VR, we’ll work with you to identify the best hardware and, if appropriate, mobile device management (MDM) software to manage it. For desktop experiences, we’ll deliver an application compatible with your LMS. Whatever the final experience looks like, we’ll train your trainers and can help you to showcase your new learning in your business, and provide support on measuring the impact.
- Post-deployment
We’re always learning and want to continually improve. We carry out post-rollout reviews with you to check everything is going as planned and apply any learnings to our future work with you. We also hold internal end-of-project reviews to discuss what went well, what could be better, and take improvements into all our projects. For example, we now aim for a full script read-through of our learning experiences after doing this to great success in one project.
Working with your teams, other suppliers and third parties
Our flexible yet robust approach allows us to slot in effortlessly with your own internal teams, your other suppliers, and any other third parties. We can work with your SMEs as well as external consultants to ensure the learning lands right every time.
We also are lucky to work with a talented pool of freelancers who help us ensure every aspect of a project is covered, such as videographers and scriptwriters.
When it comes to the day-to-day of working, we use a range of tools to communicate and keep everyone up to date. For example, we tend to use Microsoft Teams for meetings with you, we use JIRA to track progress, but if you have a preferred tool, let us know and we can work with that.
Our ultimate goal is to deliver a learning experience that you and your teams will love. By following a flexible yet robust approach, with your valuable input, we can be sure to do so.
